Barone - González

Issues such as feminism, human rights, social crises, the new ways of love, were the topics they addressed from 1989 Patricia Barone and Javier González, pioneers of a flourishing stage of new tangeros. "Since we started we are developing a new repertoire within the genre", affirms without hesitation Barone.

Due to the need to express themselves generationally through tango, they mixed González's unique style of musical composition., the lyrics of the best contemporary poets, and the passionate interpretation of Barone, giving rise to an extensive repertoire of tangos, candombes, milongas and waltzes committed to the present. Always out of the fashions and clichés. They have recorded this work in seven record productions. His new album is called “30 Years in Orsai” and they will present it this Thursday at the Tasso.

"In these three decades we have always expressed ourselves, realizing our concerns and reflecting the aesthetics we are experiencing.. We merge very well, since we come from different musical places, Javier from jazz and rock and me more from Argentine music, but the first thing that brought us together was that mixture of Piazzolla, Serrat and Silvio Rodríguez who marked us so much.

There was a musical encounter that inevitably ended in a repertoire that gave an account of our concerns. We make music in the present ", Barone account. When they started they did songs by authors like Eladia Blázquez, Ferrer, Gonzalez Tuñon, by Héctor Negro, and other not so well known creators, at least not so busy. We opened up to everything, I remember that we adapted songs by Silvio Rodríguez in tango format and there we found our style ", highlights Baron.

her album “30 Years in Orsai” play with the idea of playing to the limit, of always going for the unexpected. “We were always eager to talk about issues that represent us. That's how I found Adriana Turchetti's poem ‘Ser mina flor de cardo’, that today in the light of the years is an emblematic issue and was the first to pose historical challenges for women. And then in 'Pompeii does not forget', of 1998, we raised the horrors of the dictatorship and inaugurated the theme of human rights in tango ".

For Barone, social and political history always crossed them and they were permeable to that., showing your posture or your gaze, even if it is transmitted with poetic language so as not to be so pamphleteers. Baron adds: "We were always on the street, activating the ideas in which we believed, translating that into songs ".

For the singer, the musicality of her partner is key, “Because it has a different structure from the classics. A new melodic journey,  with a novel harmonic structure. They are topics that do not sound like others, that have their own stamp. It is key in everything we have achieved in these years, achieving a particular aesthetic and very ours ".
